On successful completion of this course, delegates will be able to:-

 

  • Appreciate the legal responsibilities of Employers under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, Fire Precautions Act 1971, The management of Health & Safety Regulations 1992, the Workplace (Health, Safety & Welfare) Regulations 1992 and the Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997.

     

  • Identify typical fire hazards

  • Understand the significance of a Fire Certificate where appropriate

  • Understand the need for the provision & maintenance of suitably signed escape routes

  • Implement fire risk assessments within the workplace

  • Maintain assessments in accordance with the legal requirements

  • Carry out and record fire alarm tests

  • Visually check fire fighting equipment is in good condition and in-date

  • Testing of Emergency lighting

  • Fire drills

  • Conduct staff training for their particular branch on the above matters
